Are you looking for a headset for Cisco IP phone 7942? Look no further as this blog will show you exactly which products will work and how they connect.

Wireless Headset Options:

If your looking for a wireless headset for your Cisco IP Phone 7942 telephone then you have the choice between these different wearing styles. If your looking for wired headset options scroll down.

Monaural is great for people who want to hear their surrounding as well as their phone call. Once you've decided on the wearing style, now it's a matter of how to make sure it is compatbile with your Cisco IP Phone 7942 Here's how they connect:

1) Start by unboxing the headset and plug in the parts and accessories.


Unbox all the parts and accessories and plug each part into the back of the headset. Plug the other end of the USB cable into your computer (optional), also plug the power adapter into the wall. The EHS cable and connector cable will plug into your Cisco IP Phone 7962 see step 2 for full details.



2) Plug the EHS and handset cable into the back of the Cisco phone.

Back_of_Cisco_IP_Phone_7942_1.jpgPlug the other end of the Cisco IP Phone 7942 headset EHS adapter into the AUX port of the telephone. The other end of the connector cable should be plugged into the handset port.




3) Set the headset base into RHL mode and switch 4 position.

Bottom_of_Discover_D900.jpgOn the bottom of the Discover D900 base set the left hand switch down to the RHL setting. On the right hand side switch move it to the 4 position, starting from the bottom(5) moving it UP 1 click to the 4 position.




4) Make sure to have you phone system admin to enable hookswitch mode.

Enable_Cisco_7942_Headset_Hookswitch_Control.jpgIf your phone system administrator hasn't already done so have them enable the headset hookswitch control for your Cisco IP Phone 7942. Have them go to the Cisco unified communications manager admin application and go to device then select phone and locate the phone needing to modify. In the phone configuration window, select Enable for Headset Hookswitch Control.


Wired Headset Options:


When it comes to wired headsets the configuration is a little bit different, this will show you exactly how these headsets are compatible with the Cisco IP 7942 phone. You will have the choice between these 2 wearing styles.

1) Plug the Cisco IP 7942 Headset Adapter cable into the headset port.

2) Connect the Discover headset and Cisco adapter cable together.
