The main benefit to Plantronics Savi wireless headsets is the addition of Bluetooth connectivity. Wireless headsets overall offer connection to desk phones while others provide connection to desk phones and computers. Plantronics Savi 700’s do that, but they also allow you to pair a Bluetooth mobile phone to it which allows you to use one headset for all three devices.
This blog will give you a quick, visual tutorial on how you connect your mobile phone (Android or iOS) to a Plantronics Savi 700 series wireless headset.
To begin, it’s important to know that connecting a mobile phone to an Office Wireless Headset isn’t new. This has been done in the past, but what makes connecting a mobile phone to a Plantronics Savi 700 different is what it connects to.
In the past, mobile phones have been able to be used with an Office Wireless Headset. The connection made was between the mobile phone and the wireless headset TOP. For this to happen, the office headset was required to have Bluetooth connectivity capability. This limited the wireless talk range to 33 feet. Though wireless, the talk footprint was limited.
The Plantronics Savi 700 connects to mobile phones differently. The Savi BASE is what connects to the mobile phone and not the wireless headset top. Though this seems like a minor point, there are pluses and minuses to this change.
On the plus side, you aren’t restricted to 33 feet of wireless talk range. Because the connection is being made to the base and not the wireless top, your can get wireless range up to 350 feet which is what the base offers over the Dect 6.0 signaling. So, your wireless footprint is 10 times further.
On the minus side, you can’t use your office headset with your mobile phone outside of the office where you could in years past. The wireless headset with your mobile phone can only be used when it’s within 350 feet of the Plantronics Savi wireless headset base.
Having said all this, let’s move on to how you make the connection between your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone and a Plantronics Savi 700 series wireless headset. The step-by-step tutorial below should make pairing these two devices quick and easy.
