You use a Plantronics CS540 a.k.a. Plantronics C054 wireless headset and you love it and why not, it’s an extremely popular model and a great headset.

At work, you and your C054 wireless headset are best friends. It does everything you ask of it without a single complaint, request for a day off or even a raise. All of a sudden……

Now you’re wondering what’s up and why your faithful C054 wireless headset now sounds worse than a tin can with string.

Now that you find yourself in this position, what do you do? Contact your I.T. Department and open up a ticket and wait? Ask a co-worker what to do? Unplug it and start cradling that phone on your shoulder? The short answer is

In this blog I’ll give you a couple of quick things you can do to quickly and easily squash echo like an unwanted bug.

To begin, in order to reduce echo in your Plantronics C054 wireless headset, start by lowering the volume on your telephone (not headset) to about halfway.  You don’t want it too high and you don’t want it too low. After you make this adjustment, make a test call to see if the sound quality is acceptable to you. If not, proceed to tip two.

In suggestion 2, you’re going to turn your attention away from the telephone and on to the Plantronics C054 wireless headset BASE (not the headset top/earpiece).

Now that you’ve adjusted down the phone volume but the echo’s still there, try lowering the SPEAKING volume on the bottom of the CS540 base as shown below. Locate the red dial above the icon that looks like a microphone. Turn the dial counter-clockwise to lower the microphone volume. The factory default setting for this headset is #2. If yours is on 3 or above, this could be your echo problem.  Set it to number 2 and make a test call to see if the problem has been corrected.

Did this fix your problem?  Hopefully so.  If not, give us a call and we’ll take the time to work with you to get that unwanted echo eliminated. We won’t charge you for this service either. Click here for our contact information.
